First-Ring Student Leadership Research Collaborations

The collaboration consist of the Center for Urban Education at Cleveland State University, the American Institutes for Research (AIR), and the Educational Service Centers of Central and Northeast Ohio sponsored by a $2.7 million Education Innovation Research grant from the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education of the U.S. Department of Education to develop and research a youth participatory action research (YPAR) intervention that can be used in secondary schools. There are two SchYPAR research collaborations: the First-Ring Student Leadership Institute and the Student Leadership Research Collaborative, both of which engage teams of students and teachers from over 29 high schools in Northeast and Central Ohio: Bedford, Berea, Bexley, Brooklyn City Schools, Buckeye Valley, Cleveland Heights-University Heights, Cleveland, Columbus, Cuyahoga Heights, East Cleveland, Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical, Euclid, Fairview Park, Garfield Heights, Hilliard, Lakewood, Licking Heights, Maple Heights, New Albany-Plain, Northland Preparatory, Olentangy, Parma, Reynoldsburg, Richmond Heights, Shaker Heights, South Euclid-Lyndhurst, Warrensville Heights, Westerville, and Worthington.
